Learn to play the LDS hymns without years of piano lessons, tedious practicing, or hours spent learning to read music.
How It Began...
If you are reading this it is probably because you recently met someone in your ward and branch who, as far as you know, couldn’t play one note on the piano a few weeks or months ago… And are now playing the LDS hymns and sounding like pros.
And when you asked them how they learned so fast they told you, “Hymns In A Hurry!”
Let me tell you a little bit about how this came about and then I will send a good chunk of it to you for free and show you how it works!
I have been a piano player almost as long as I have been a Mormon. (In my house we had to start taking piano lessons at 8, so I mean that quite literally.)
I never dreamed when I first sat at the piano as an 8 year old and tried to find middle C that I would eventually make a career out of it, or that playing the piano would become one of the greatest joys in my life.
During all my years as a Mormon pianist I have heard the sentence, “I so wish that I had not stopped taking piano lessons” more times than I can count. And while I get why people want to be able to play I also get why they quit. Playing the piano is wonderful and fun, but it is also difficult and takes years of hard work.
When I ask these would be pianists if they could learn one thing what would it be, the overwhelming response is always, “I really wish I could play the hymns!” (Followed closely by Taylor Swift songs).
After hundreds of hours spent helping my young students stumble through the LDS hymns I decided to try an experiment and came up with a few shortcuts.
After some trial and error, hiring a graphic designer, hours of work, and getting feedback from students of all ages and abilities I came up with “Hymns in a Hurry.”
Using this book, the same students that used to take months and months to learn a hymn were now learning them in minutes.
The Secret? Pictures!
Instead of using traditional music notation that takes lots of time and effort, I spell everything out with simple pictures that are easy to comprehend on sight, even if you know nothing about music or the piano.
As word got around my community, people who took piano lessons as kids and quit were calling me up and asking if they could borrow my homemade hymnbook. It was then that I knew I was onto something!
I used these proven techniques and applied them to some of our most popular hymns and am now excited to release “Hymns in a Hurry!”
This book and the video course that accompany it are all you need to be able to sit down and play LDS hymns sooner than you thought possible.
Click on this link, enter an email, and I will send you “We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet,” and teach you how to play it in less than 10 minutes.
“I am so impressed with your Hymns In A Hurry Video Course and Book. It is easily the best investment I have ever made toward playing the piano my whole life. Wish I’d had it 50 years ago.”
“My children all play well but I never learned. They think it is amazing I can play now too! I have been spending hours at the piano at my house driving everyone crazy and having a blast.”
“Thank you for doing this. It will prove to be a blessing for so many individuals, families and even wards and branches.”
Piano teachers are now using Hymns in a Hurry
“I’m impressed with the simple and fast visual way you have of teaching students to play the hymns quickly.I have been teaching piano lessons for 25 years and I love this visual approach. I have so many students that this could really be useful for!
This program will give me the opportunity to teach that concept even sooner to even younger students. I believe those younger Primary age kids will be able to excel with something like this and build the confidence that they need so that there are more members ready and available to accompany in the church when the need arises.

Kevin: The First Hymns In A Hurry Student
I wanted to quickly tell you about my student Kevin’s experience with learning the piano. I had been teaching Kevin for about a year. We had been working on learning how to read music and practicing a few songs but it seemed like we were kind of hitting a wall.
Now if you have ever taken piano lessons you know reading music is HARD. And as sometimes happens with students, I could tell that Kevin wasn’t really into it.
So I took a different approach with him and we started learning to play piano without reading music. Instead we used a bit of music theory, our ear, and some creative picture notation.
We took the songs that he wanted to learn and broke them down into a few simple patterns. After he learned these patterns he was able to play just about any song he wanted in just a few minutes.
The transformation in his ability to play was almost instant. The songs that used to take him weeks to learn he was now learning in minutes. The piano was fun again and he was the star of all his ward and school talent shows, playing and singing songs everyone knew and loved. And the best part is, he didn’t even have to practice that much.
So as he got closer to a mission call I thought, “Why not use this simple approach to teach the hymns?.” And so Hymns in a Hurry was born. He learned the LDS hymns the same way he had been learning Coldplay and Beatles songs. Using this simple notation Kevin could learn a hymn in just a few minutes. He even sat down and learned 17 hymns in just one lesson.
I started trying this approach with all of my students and they loved it! They loved that they could sit down and play a song within minutes, without ever having to learn to read sheet music. I have since tried it with my online students, and even those who were looking at the piano for the first time were able to play songs in just a few minutes.
So now I would like to show you how you can easily do it too! Go ahead and open that email I sent you titled “Hymns in a Hurry: We Thank Thee O God For A Prophet,” and you can check out the same simple picture music that has helped so many people quickly learn the hymns. Let’s go to the piano and I will show you how to use it.
